Study abroad consultant website audit: countries, courses and counselling details that Google and AI assistants can read

Students and parents ask Google and AI assistants for a study-abroad consultant in their city, which countries and courses you handle, and how to book a counselling session. If those facts live only in brochures, PDFs or social posts, there is little text for search engines and assistants to read. This page covers what Google, schema.org and OpenAI say, and what to put in text on your own website. We don’t advise on visas, admissions or education loans.

Countries and courses in plain text

Write each country and course area you handle in text on your own pages: for example the destinations you cover, the levels (undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma) and the subjects you counsel on. A list that only appears inside an image, PDF or Instagram carousel is hard for search engines and assistants to read. State what you do; don’t invent outcomes or rankings.

Office address, hours and counselling booking

Google’s Business Profile help says businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local search results, and lists details such as address, hours and business category (Google Business Profile Help: Tips to improve your local ranking). Our recommendation is to make your own site say the same things in plain text:

  • Your office address, written the same way as on your Business Profile.
  • Office hours, including days you are closed.
  • One clear way to book a counselling session or enquire (form, email or phone) that works on a phone.
  • The cities you counsel from, if you have more than one office.

Structured data and crawler access

schema.org has EducationalOrganization for education providers (schema.org: EducationalOrganization). Google’s local business documentation says to use the most specific LocalBusiness sub-type that fits (Google Search Central: Local business structured data); if your consultancy is a local office rather than a school or college, LocalBusiness (or a closer sub-type) is usually the safer match. Google’s structured data policies say not to mark up content that is not visible to readers of the page (General structured data guidelines).

Google says there are “no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode” beyond being indexed and eligible for a snippet (Google Search Central: AI features and your website). OpenAI says sites opted out of OAI-SearchBot “will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers” (OpenAI: Overview of OpenAI crawlers). We check that your robots.txt doesn’t block the crawlers you want.

What our audit checks for a study-abroad consultancy website

We check whether your countries, courses, office address, hours and counselling booking route are in readable text; whether your title and main heading say what you do and where; whether EducationalOrganization or LocalBusiness structured data is present, valid and matches the page; and whether search and AI crawlers can fetch your pages. You get a prioritised fix list. We don’t guarantee rankings, enquiries or mentions by any assistant, and we don’t advise on visas or admissions.

  2. Office address and hours are in text and match your Google Business Profile.
  3. There is one clear counselling booking or enquiry route that works on a phone.
  4. Your consultancy name is written the same way on your site, Business Profile and listings.
  5. EducationalOrganization or LocalBusiness structured data matches what the page shows.
  6. robots.txt doesn’t block OAI-SearchBot, Googlebot or the other crawlers you want.
